    Dr. Pierre Steenberg is preaching at Hillcrest November 3, 2012. He will also present a parenting seminar at 2:00 pm. There will be free childcare provided!!! Don't miss this!

    Dr. Pierre F. Steenberg has been a pastor and doing counseling for many years. He has attained many degrees including a B.A. Theology degree, a B.A. and M.A. in Biblical Studies, Ph.D. in New Testament Studies and a D.Min. in Pastoral Psychology and Family Therapy. As a Board Certified Christian Counselor and member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, he has completed courses from Biblical Concepts in Counseling, American Association of Christian Counselors, Parent Effectiveness Training, and Love Takes Time. He currently lives in California with his wife and two sons. His hobbies include photography and travel.

  • Need sponsors for Parking Lot & Bernard St. Repairs!

    We are thankful to God for the portion of the repairs that is already finished.  There is still alot of parking lot left to finish! Resealing and re-striping of the drive way and parking lot cost about $70.00 per parking space.  There are about 200 parking spaces in our parking lot.  To date, we have only been able to do as much of it as the donations you provided for the parking lot. To complete the job, we would like everyone to sponsor the cost of one or as many spaces as you are able to for God's house.  If you are willing to help complete this project on God's property, please write on your tithe envelope; Parking Lot and the amount of your contribution;  contributions for the Bernard Street entrance improvement should say, Church sign and the amount of your contribution.  May God continue to bless and prosper us as we make financial contributions to his work.

  • Farewell to Pastor Jamey!

    Pastor Jamey just announced to our church that him and his family have accepted a call to serve in the Rocky Mountain Conference starting in early July. They will be the Student Evangelism Coordinator for the conference and will be training young people to share Jesus! They are excited about the door that God has opened, and we will miss them greatly. We wish the Houghton family God's blessings as they move to their new home, and do the work that God has called them to do.

    Next Sabbath April 21, at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Jamey Houghton will be ordained to the gospel miistry of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  He and his wife Erin have been serving our church family for about 6 years.  We thank God for using them in ministry to spiritually enrich our lives.  We have been bless also to see their family grow with the addition of Callie and Joshua.  We encourage everyone to come together in unity to support them and affirm their ministry.

    Church family--as I have visited with Dora Buller at the Evergreen Healthcare Facility, I have noticed that they have had a hard time making good vegetarian food for her. She is going to be there for quite some time yet recuperating from her broken leg, and I know she would appreciate some home cooked food! I have set up a meal train for anyone who would like to help make her stay there better! You can sign up for a specific meal and drop it off to her. Thank you!!

Sabbath School will begin at 9:00-10:00 am convocation Sabbath (January 14th) at Hillcrest Church. Then Church will take place at Saint Johns Baptist Church at 10:30 am.   • Transition to One Service

    Our last day for having two worship services on Sabbath morning will be December 17, 2011.  Beginning on December 24, 2011, we will have only one worship service on Sabbath Morning.  This change will impact our Sabbath School and worship schedule.  We will ebgin Sabbath School at 9:30 a.m. and end at 10:35 a.m. Our worship service will begin at 10:45 a.m, hopefully, this will enable us to finish worship a little earlier.

    House of Prayer: For the past few weeks prayer meeting has been growing as more people have been coming out to pray together.  God is blessing his church as his people listen to the voice of His Spirit and say, "Yes!" to Him.  Who will you fi nd coming to the Hosue of Prayer on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m.? You will find many adults of all ages, teenagers, and families with their young children too.  We encourage you to come and share in the blessings.  Spiritually,  "prayer is the breath of the soul".  Experientially, "Prayer is talking to God, as one talks to a friend."  Functionally, "prayer is the key that unlocks heavens storehouse." (For Wed. August 31, read DA chapter 75)

    ALL MEMBERS ARE NEEDED!!!!

    Sunday, September 11, 8:00 A.M - 12:00 P.M

    Our goal is to enhance the appearance of God's house.  Below is the lsit of jobs that each member can choose from to participate in:

    1. Paint Fence
    2. Rearrange Office
    3. Remove Graffiti
    4. Paint Fellowship Hall
    5. Replace Water Spigots
    6. General Cleaning
    7. Dig up Sprouting Palms
    8. Other

    Please bring these items of you have them; gloves, shovels, buckets, rags, brooms, dust pans, mops, dusters, Windex, Clorox wipes, and paint supplies.

    If you are unable to participate but would like to be involved, we can use your help making lunch for the volunteers.  We will need outdoor grills to cook the Veggies Hot dogs and Grillers.  God bless us all as we work to beautify the Hillcrest Seventh-Day Adventist Church!

    There will be games and activities for the kids.  It is MANDATORY that Pathfinders sign up that night if they wish to participate in Honors.  Pahtfinders cannot attend honors classes without registering.

  • Let's Move 5K Run & Bike-a-thon

    Bakersfield Adventist Academy is sponsoring a Let's Move 5K Run/Walk and bike-a-thon fives weeks from Sunday,  September 25.  the school has joined a nationwide goal of logging 1,000,000 miles to bring focus to the childhood obesity epidemic.  Childhood obesity has been declared an epidemic across the nation for all ages, races, and socioeconomics statuses. The Let's Move event held on the campus of Bakersfield Adventist Academy is intended to inspire healthful lifestyle choices in nutrition and exercise especially for children and teens.  Sign up at the Bakersfield Adventist Academy table in the Hillcrest Foyer and join the fun September 25 to help reach 1,000,000 miels for the health and happiness of our children and teens.

    The featured speak for this year's event is Mark Finley (pictured), assistant to the president for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and former speak for the popular It Is Written television program. An evangelist at heart, Finley has been the featured speaker for more than 150 evangelistic seminars in more than 80 countries. Finley will speak at both the morning and evening programs.

    Joining Finley will be a host of musicians, including: Kelly Mowrer, Charles Haugabrooks, Sandy Johnson, Jennifer LaMountain and Jarrod McNaughton. In addition to performances during the worship service, the musicians will also put on a special concert at 7 p.m.

    Before and after the service, hospital staff will provide screenings, giveaways and other health tips in the lobby.

    A Big thank you to everyone who came out June 26th to help with the Work Bee. It was a tremedous success. We praise God for sending such a large number of people out to work on various tasks and projects that needed attention throughout the church facility. The unity and diligence with which everyone worked showed the precense of God among us. There were joyful hearts and happy faces everywhere. If you wanted to be there that Sunday workbee and could not because of your schedule, we can use your help during the week. Please call the office 661-871-5000 and let us know when you are available. In order to keep the facillity in the best quality condition we will schedule an all church Work Bee each quarter.
